SL(5)008 - The Smoke Control Areas (Authorised Fuels) (Wales) Regulations 2016

Background and Purpose

 These Regulations revoke the Smoke Control Areas (Authorised Fuels) (Wales) Regulations 2015 (S.I. 2015/1517 (W. 176)). These Regulations specify all fuels which are currently authorised for use in smoke control areas in Wales for the purposes of section 20 of the Clean Air Act 1993.

One point is identified for reporting under Standing Order 21.2 in respect of this instrument:

 

SO 21.2 (vii): There are inconsistencies between the meaning of the English and Welsh text. The Schedule to the Regulations includes an authorised fuel “Aldi Winter Flame Smokeless Fuel”. At paragraph 1(d) of the Schedule the English text describes the average weight as being “either 55 or 80 grams per briquette” whereas the Welsh text states “50 neu 80”.
